I confess, the portraits I take of children are not exactly traditional.

I worked as a traditional, studio portrait photographer for fifteen years.  Don't get me wrong -

I loved it!  But when it came to children's portraits something always seemed to be lacking,

some essential element that really expressed the true nature and personality of each

individual child in all their weirdness and glory.

Then, in December 2002, I found myself being the guardian to a young boy.  I "retired" from studio

work in order to stay home and learn a new skill:  parenting.*

Freed from the confines of the studio, I found myself working in a new direction and rediscovering

my love of photography.  People saw what I was doing, and they asked me to do it for them.

It seems that many parents are tired of staged, studio portraits.  They too wanted something

more natural, something that told a story of the child's life, something not exactly traditional.

Maybe you're one of those parents too.

If so, I hope you'll take the time to browse through my portfolio and contact me with any

questions or comments.

Thank you for visiting my web site.  I hope to hear from you soon.

* I'm very happy to say that our adoption was finalized in September 2006, so now I am officially one of those parents myself!
